Inflammation

Inflammation is an adaptive response that is triggered by noxious stimuli and conditions, such as infection and tissue injury.  In this study we present data on the adhesion profiles of monocytes and PBMCs on a range of adhesion molecules and on endothelial cells, analyzing the role of these proteins and other chemokines, which are involved in various stages of inflammation and leukocyte trafficking, under physiological flow conditions using Cellix’s VenaFluxTM microfluidic platform.

Statins are cholesterol-reducing drugs that have become a cornerstone of primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. In recent years, pleiotropic effects of statins have been highlighted including immunomodulatory properties in conditions as diverse as rheumatoid arthritis and COPD. Statins exert these effects on the inflammatory responses in part through modulating lymphocyte adhesion to endothelial cells.
